This week we had the honor of welcoming five of Presidential Precinct’s Mandella Washington Fellows for a tour of C4K. Our guests came from different countries across Sub-Saharan Africa and are in town for a six-week program focused on topics such as human rights and justice, good governance, and women’s empowerment through the lens of civic leadership.

At C4K, we follow the nationally recognized mentoring best practices that are laid out in MENTOR's, "Elements for Effective Practice for Mentoring." MENTOR recently published a supplement to this book, intended to provide additional research- and practitioner-informed recommendations for youth mentoring programs to more effectively serve lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth—as well as LGBTQ volunteers and other stakeholders.

On Monday, June 17, the Albemarle County Rotary Club will present the Kids Swing Golf Tournament, an annual fundraising event benefiting youth across the community. The tournament will take place at Glenmore Country Club, featuring youth and adult golfers playing in teams. Funds raised will provide youth at C4K new virtual reality tools to learn and apply emerging technology skills.
